Client Background Info:

Dreams for Change is a nonprofit organization, whose mission is to create paths of stability for underserved families and individuals via innovative and cost-effective programs, such their “Safe Parking” initiative. The organization was founded in 2009 after Dr. Teresa Smith saw the need to serve families and individuals who were struggling as a result of the recession’s economic downturn. Since then, the organization has helped more than 33,000 people and was the recipient of the prestigious James Irvine Foundation Leadership Award (https://irvineleadershipawards.org/award-recipient/teresa-smith/ )

 

Our Approach:

We came together with Dreams for Change, CEO, Theresa for a sit-down meeting to align our collective mission and goals for our event. 

The plan was to create a creative and engaging event for a younger audience rather than the typical “Holiday Gala”. We partnered with Truly Fine Wine to provide the venue and drinks for the evening. The wine was paired with specialty bites from a local mediterranean restaurant. Guests were entertained with live performances by: Teal, RealJ, and Adam Flowers. In order to put guests in the shoes of those experiencing housing instability, and highlight the organization’s most innovative program, we parked cars in the venue space outfitted to visually represent what a family living their car experiences. 

Results:

Oso transformed a local wine shop distributor 2hr experience that included a pop art gallery featuring donated pieces from local artists, a silent auction with prizes ranging from luxury hotel stays to Jabbawockeez tickets, and compelling live performances raising over $2,000 to help the underserved families/individuals of San Diego.
