Project Background Info:

This past year, the world has changed due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Every day our team witnesses how economic hardships impact our friends and family in various industries all over San Diego due to Covid-19. We are anxiously sheltering in place with bated breath as local businesses and essential workers brave the unknown. What we do know is this: Our local small businesses need us. Those risking their lives need us.

Challenges:

We were genuinely affected witnessing the devastating impact Covid-19 had on our local communities. We had to take action. We wanted to figured out a way to show our appreciation to essential workers, spread awareness about essential heroes and helped local business. The essential worker we wanted to focus on were local clinics that were in minority communities most impacted by Covid-19.

Our Approach:

We teamed up with a local print shop, Enormously, and released a limited number of custom shirts designed by local artists to highlight our essential workers. These shirts were sold exclusively on the Support Essential Heroes  All money from each sale went towards purchasing food for an essential worker from a local small business.

Outreach:

We were able to bring awareness to this charity through various media outles. Such as interviews with local TV networks and newspapers like the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Results:

What started as just a one-off turned into 3 campaigns that fed over 300+ essential workers and totaled over $3,000+ for family-owned small restaurants.

We were overwhelmed by the response of our local community and extremely grateful for the sacrifice from our essential workers.

FOCUS ON WHAT YOU’RE GOOD AT.
